One thing that holds up aspiring entrepreneurs is that they have a lot of inspiration, but no way to channel all that is within them to get them moving forward. They stagnate for too long trying to figure it out themselves, knowing all along if they could create a plan and follow it, they will get further ahead than most.
I know that I work better when my life it somewhat organized, but not too organized. In order is what I mean. I don't like a lot of disorder in my life and it works against me, because I am constantly fighting with having my freedom yet reorganizing what I do in order to get back on track.
I like and enjoy a lot of things. But the main thing is that most entrepreneurs no matter what, believe that work is a number one priority. Whether they are working from home, remotely with a corporate job, or if they are trying to start a business altogether. They know that whatever work they do, they have to do it with vigor in order to be successful.
Half-way won't work, things don't get done. Too much time and energy falls by the wayside and they end of staying off track, not channeling their energy to the right places.
There are many things that stand in the way, mainly those things that you already do, but don't do in an orderly way, because you know that you want to do them, but often find you put them off here and there. So that to do list never gets done the way you want it to. And you know deep down that that to do list is everything for you success.
Now that some trial-in-error has occurred you can sit back and re-channel everything you know about yourself and your plans. The thing for encouragement is that you actually have plans! Those that don't care about putting their plans into action end up being stuck, and not achieving that which they know they can or want to.
This is what you need to do. Start making an asserted effort to get organized. A lot of people say study psychology or the way your mind works. It makes sense, because you are stepping back and taking a look at what makes you tick. Like a lens you move it further away to see the bigger picture, and fine tune till you see those things that are necessary for change about yourself. You find that both are important.
So what is the best way to get organized. Many tools are available without even having to have a lot of special gadgets to get started.
1. Notepad (the one on your computer)
2. Sticky notes
3. Pen and paper (notebook paper/legal pad)
4. Memos (on your phone)
5. A journal (doesn't hurt)
After you get those things you can get started right away. So what is next. Say you have been jotting all your ideas and to-do lists down regularly. You just aren't getting anywhere.
The next step is make a note of two important things: your budget, your time.
Your budget is the things that you have to take care of financially. List every single bill, every planned bill, every missing bill (on your credit report), unpaid taxes, potential donations (you want to make), and don't forget debt.
This will make a realistic list of finances you have, and get that burden off your chest and onto paper, and eventually an action plan.
Once you write every bill and debt, etc. down, get a final number. Is your monthly dues $5,000? $2,000?, $10,000? Don't be scared of this number. It is only a number. Your creditors know that you owe, and you know that you owe. The key is making the effort to plan to pay for them. Did you list that dream vacation or that business advertising budget? List that too. That way you have a serious, realistic budget. If you want you can list them separately and have the main bills
listed first. Then later return to the other things you want to do.
One you have your finances listed and the amount that you require of yourself in total, start to link a deadline with them and write that next to every bill. This will get your mind focused on paying them by a certain time frame, whether monthly, or whenever. Most of us do not have debt or bills so far-reaching we can not attain to pay them, we just need more time or income.
Next once you have the budget down, start thinking about what matters in terms of your time. Your time is the most important asset you have. Think about what is it that matters most to you with your time, once you have all your budget under control. Did you want to plan that business you always wanted? Did you want to spend more time with your kids. Did you want to focus
on that new hobby you never go to? Did you want to plan that dream vacation?
This is what you do with your time, when you are not working on meeting your budget. When you get off work. When you have weekends off. When you get vacation time at work. When you are sitting at home and have free time. Think about what it is you would like to do and make a note of it by writing it down and/or using one of the methods above.
This is magical. You have gone from taking the ideas in your head, putting them on paper, and next you will make plans to putting them into action. Those are the 3 steps you need here.
Those first two steps are critical and lay the foundation for the next. And you can do this all in one day if you desire to!
Once you have done that, now let's move on to the next step, in theory step 3. (One, budget your money. Two, budget your time.) The next step is list all the areas you want to work on in your life in categories. Catergories can be:
Spiritual
Financial
Mental
Physical
Health
Career
Education
Marriage
Family/Friends/Relationships
Travel
Other
Etc.
These categories will be those for writing affirmations. List these categories using one of the methods above (on a separate sheet of paper). Next, think about each category and list things that you see yourself accomplishing in an "I will" tone. For example, "I will get out of debt this year.", "I will go back to school this year.", "I will rekindle my relationships with my friends/family this year." "I will get healthy this year.", "I will go on my dream vacation this year."
List two or three or four or more under each category and you can be specific as well. Under Health, "I will heal from an injured leg this year." Under Finances, "I will get my business going this year." "I will get financial freedom this year."
You can word them whatever way you want, the tone and goal is what matters. If you don't find a category you can add it to your categories you have listed.
Next once you have your list of affirmations. Save them in a place where you can refer to them everyday. A good place to save your affirmations is in the - Memo tool on your phone.
That is step 3. Now onto step 4. Step 4 consists of make an action plan. One way you can do this is start again with one of the methods above. Under Action Plan, you will focus on daily steps to achieve your goals you have made.
One great way to do this is start with a number one Goal. Which goal is most important to you? Is it Finances, Health, Career, Family, Marriage, etc.? Say it is Finances. Start with that. Under Goals, put Finances. Now breakdown in your mind what all you want to do. Write "I want to achieve, ___________ today." Say for instance, "I want to make my quota at work
today, or set myself up today for my bonus this week, by achieving my quota for today."
After you have written your goal for today, start to write down what is it you want to achieve to accomplish that goal. "I want to do 10-15 orders at work to meet my quota for the day for my bonus this week."
Next, write out 2 or 3 tasks to achieve this. "Get up early." "Get ___________ready for the day." "Make sure I have everything prepared then head to work."
One tool that works great for all this is the Success Wizard App. http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.way4app.successwizard Download that, and even subscribe to the $4.99/mo. subscription and you will get lots of unlimited access to all tools you need.
In Success Wizard you have added all the goals and list of things you need to do for the day and refer to them everyday. It works great and will get you headed in the best direction toward achieving your goals. If not, pen and paper will do just fine.
As you head down your list, in Success Wizard or on paper, you will find that you may have 10 things for that day you need to get done. Also, you may do those same 10 things everyday for a week or even one or two things that are for the next day or later in the week. You will find you will eventually get to all 10 in one day before the week is out. The reason is because it is a daily list, not a lifetime list.* Your motivation has peeked at this point, and everyday you look at your daily list.
Also, starting with one goal is what makes it go fast. If you focus on this one goal everyday for a week, you will find you got there faster than working on 5 goals at a time. After you get to your first goal, starting working on another, then another. And don't forget to add to read your list of affirmations to your daily goal list.
Now, the ways the steps go are as such: Step 1 - Make a budget of your Finances. Step 2 - Make a budget of your time. Step 3 - Make a list of Affirmations. Step 4 - Make an Action Plan with a First Major Goal and Begin Following a Daily Plan
After you make a budget of finances, stick to it. After you make a budget of your time consider how to use your free time more wisely. After you make a list of affirmations, read it daily. After you make a daily action plan begin following it daily.
These are powerful tools again that you can start doing in one day. They will get you on a path to success that you will be able to repeat over and over and even master old habits and achieve your wildest dreams. Good luck!
